This new challenge for the Catalan will start on August 28th and 29th which is good news for the team who will be able to count on a very fast and experienced rider.
Gilles Stafler commented: “It’s very good news for us. We know David well. He has always been a formidable yet respected competitor and we are delighted to welcome him. David has real human qualities which are appreciated by everybody. The first time we practiced with him was on August 19th on the small Paul Ricard track. He was already fast even though we suggested for him to try two different settings on the bike.
The objective was for him to “discover” the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR, a difficult goal for David, who evolved over many years on a motorcycle radically different from ours. So, the final composition of our team for the next Bol d’Or is, Randy de Puniet, Jérémy Guarnoni and David Checa. We will have a strong and experienced team that will give us the best chance to aim the victory.
David Checa summarized his first impressions by saying :
"The first contact took place in Germany to Oschersleben last June, I really appreciated that Gilles came to talk to me.
Regarding the Ninja ZX-10RR which I was able to test (and appreciate!) it was a very pleasant surprise. I immediately got used to the bike’s electronics which I find very accomplished and easy to exploit. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to try two different settings. I also appreciated the riding position on the bike which is very comfortable. It’s really great to be on this bike! At the end of only three laps I was really confident.
I would like specifically thank Gilles for his trust. Finally, I will add that I know a little my team-mates, and the three of us want to win. For me, Jeremy and Randy are very good riders whom I am impatient to join. I really look forward for being at the Bol d’Or ! "
